SAP and ServiceNow, working as one platform

Surface SAP events as ServiceNow incidents, keep your CMDB synchronized and integrate your service desk and SAP operations.

Trusted, hybrid observability and automation for SAP Ops—from ground to cloud.

Turn SAP events into ServiceNow action

Your service desk runs on ServiceNow, but SAP doesn’t.

That’s the gap most customers are trying to close, and it’s where Avantra fits.

Avantra continuously monitors your SAP estate — SAP application layer, HANA, the OS underneath, BTP services, and the integrations between them — and forwards what matters into ServiceNow.

Your ServiceNow workflows handle routing, ownership, and escalation the way they already do for the rest of your IT estate. Now with SAP context attached

The result is a single front door for operational issues. Basis teams stop maintaining a parallel queue. The service desk eliminates blind triage for SAP issues.

Accurate CMDB for SAP

The CMDB is only useful when it’s accurate. SAP landscapes are notoriously hard to keep accurate in a CMDB — systems get refreshed, kernels patched, instances moved, and the manual update never quite catches up.

Avantra’s outbound CMDB synchronization keeps SAP information current automatically. SAP systems, instances, databases, and their relationships delivered to ServiceNow on a schedule you control, with the option to use the Service Graph Connector for Avantra for a sanctioned, structured ingestion path available in the ServiceNow store

Sync runs the other direction, too! Pull server records from your CMDB into Avantra so monitoring scope follows the CMDB rather than diverging from it

When change management asks who owns what and what depends on what, the CMDB has the answer — and the answer is current.

Close the loop with automation

Routing an alert to ServiceNow is half the job. Resolving it is the other

SAP issues delivered to ServiceNow loop back to Avantra for action — restart a queue, clear a lock, kick off a system refresh or other automated response

Avantra’s automation runs the work, reports the result, and the ServiceNow ticket reflects the results. Operators stay in approval loops for anything sensitive

This isn’t autonomous remediation magic. It’s your existing ITSM workflow, with Avantra doing the SAP operations execution your service desk can’t do directly.

Available in the ServiceNow Store

The Avantra app and the Service Graph Connector for Avantra are both available in the ServiceNow Store at no additional cost. Most customers are connected within an afternoon: install the app, create a service account with the appropriate roles, point Avantra at your instance and start with whichever direction of sync you need first

Frequently asked questions

What are the prerequisites for integration?

How does Avantra ensure data accuracy in the CMDB?

Configuration data is harvested directly from SAP systems during regular monitoring cycles and pushed to ServiceNow, eliminating manual updates and drift.

Can I control which SAP events create ServiceNow tickets?

Yes. Avantra’s alerting rules determine what gets forwarded. You configure thresholds, severity levels, and event types to match your operational requirements.

Does bidirectional sync create conflicts?

No. The two sync directions serve different purposes: outbound sync pushes discovered SAP configuration to the CMDB and inbound sync pulls server scope from the CMDB.

What happens if ServiceNow is temporarily unavailable?

Avantra queues events during outages and delivers them when connectivity resumes. Monitoring continues regardless of ServiceNow availability.
