How does Avantra replace SAP Landscape Management (LaMa)?

Functionally, Avantra is a superset of capabilities beyond the SAP Landscape Management solution. Avantra is designed to provide common landscape management functions including backup orchestration, start-and-stop, patches and upgrades orchestration and more, just like LaMa. Then, Avantra extends this basic functionality to full System Copy/Refresh automation, sophisticated provisioning capabilities, certificate maintenance automation and more. Avantra is designed to support SAP anywhere it runs, providing a single pane-of-glass across legacy on premise systems, hyperscaler deployments and Cloud ERP Private.

LaMa is designed specifically for on-premise ECC and S/4HANA deployments. LaMa is at end of life, officially discontinued with no options for extended support at the end of 2027. No successor or replacement product for LaMa is planned by SAP.

How does Avantra differ from SAP Solution Manager?

While not technically the same as LaMa, Solution Manager and LaMa are frequently paired when supporting on premises SAP deployments. Avantra extends the capabilities of Solution Manager, providing automation and AIOps anywhere SAP runs, with a single point-of-control for all SAP landscapes across on-prem, hyperscaler and Cloud ERP. Additionally, Avantra integrates with Cloud ALM, extending scalable management for the most complex SAP estates during transformation and transition projects.

Solution Manager is designed specifically for on-premise ECC and S/4HANA deployments. Solution Manager is at end of life, with continuing support beyond 2027 but without further innovation as SAP transitions to Cloud ALM.
